Intel to launch Eaglelake in 2Q08, Tylersburg-DT in 4Q

Intel is planning to launch its Eaglelake series chipsets for mainstream desktop platforms in the second and third quarters of 2008, while the Tylersburg-DT platform for high-end systems will follow in the fourth quarter, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Eaglelake-G, the successor of the G35 and P35 targeting consumer mainstream platforms, will be paired with new ICH10 southbridges. The chips will be based on a 65nm process and come in versions with (G45) and without (P45) an integrated Intel GMA X4500 graphics core. In the third quarter Eaglelake-Q, for business platforms, will become available, noted the sources.

In the fourth quarter a high-end platform consisting of 45nm Nehalem-based processors (Bloomfield) and Tylersburg-DT chipsets will appear, according to the sources.

As with Eaglelake, Tylersburg-DT will pair with ICH10 series southbridges, added the sources.

Intel declined the opportunity to respond to this report saying it cannot comment on unannounced products.
